Welcome Family Members!
This is a time where friendships are woven between members. Being Greek creates closer bonds that go beyond an ordinary friendship. These relationships are created when Greeks go to their weekly meetings, attend social events, participate in Philanthropic events to help out the community and bond on a daily basis.

Greek Values
Leadership
Being involved in Greek Life will give your family member an opportunity to learn to become better leaders, and prepares your son or daughter for their professional career. Becoming a member of a Greek Organization is one of the best ways to get involved at UVM. However just because you belong to an individual chapter does not mean that you cannot participate in other activities on campus. Greek Life at UVM is a well rounded program with many members belonging to outside programs. Greek life allows your son or daughter to be themselves, but also in the process gives them the opportunity to become a leader within the chapter.

Your family member's or sorority does not end after college is over. Your son or daughter is given the chance to use their great leadership skills and apply them to their everyday jobs. They also have the opportunity to join alumnae groups and other organizations that take part in chapters while they are alumni.

Greek Scholars
The members in fraternities and sororities strive for excellence when it comes to academics. The fraternities and the sororities at UVM have programs to help out one another when it comes to academics by having study hours in the library and peer tutoring. Each chapter recognizes outstanding achievement through a variety of awards and incentives. There are also many opportunities to receive scholarships through individual fraternity and sorority headquarters.

Community Service
One of the main interest in each chapter is their involvement through philanthropic work. Each organization participates in many community service projects through out each semester, giving hundreds of hours of service and raising thousands of dollars to support many different worthy causes. This is an opportunity to give back to the community, for all the things that they do for us. We feel that community involvement also makes us stronger leaders and more well rounded individuals.

Friendship and Values
From the first day that your family member participates in the Recruitment process, they will make friends that can last a lifetime. When your son or daughter joins a fraternity or a sorority they will always have someone to be there for them and to help them carry out the values that each individual chapter strive to insure. When you become a member of Greek life you have the opportunity to meet the people that will be your brother or sister for life.
